Frequently
Asked Questions
- Who funds the programs?
- Operation Springboard offers 4
helpful employment programs; Job Connect, Youth at Work, Summer
Jobs Service and Successful Employment Strategies. The Job Connect
and Summer Jobs Service are both funded by the Ministry of Training
Colleges and Universities while Youth at Work and Successful
Employment Strategies are funded by Human Resources Skills Development
Canada.
- What are my obligations, and how
long is my commitment?
- The relationship between our candidates
and yourself is a direct employer / employee relationship. Your
obligation is the same as other similar relationships pursuant
to the employment standards act. If the situation arises where
an incentive reimbursement is available, a separate contract
and training plan are established between yourself and our organization
detailing the parameters of the reimbursement and training goals.
A contract for reimbursement and training plan can be terminated
at any time by either party.
- How long is the process?
- The process is simple. We try
to tailor the process to meet your needs as soon as possible.
Together, we can create a screening, interview and hiring process
based on your needs. Length of time is up to you.
- Is there a lot of paperwork?
- Most paperwork is usually limited
to situations where a contract for incentive reimbursement has
been established. In those situations, the employment specialists
will try to make the process as fluid and simple as possible.
It is up to you how often you choose to make a claim within
the confines of the employment programs. For example, some employers
claim at the end of each pay period and some claim at the end
of the reimbursement contract.
- Who is eligible for incentives,
and how much am I entitled to?
- Incentive reimbursements are always
a possibility.Amounts and lengths of contracts are specific
to each program and participant needs. These incentives are available
under two key programs; Job Connect and the Summer Jobs Service. For
the Job Connect Program, incentive dollar reimbursements are
negotiated individually on a per candidate basis based on the
needs of the position and the skills capacity of the candidate. For
the Summer Jobs Service Program, the incentive is fairly standard
at $2.00/hr up to 35 hours per week.
- How does the incentive process work?
- Incentives for both the Job Connect
and Summer Jobs Service programs are reimbursements.Once you
submit proof of payment to us, you will receive a cheque for
the relevant amount you should be reimbursed as detailed in
the reimbursement contract you sign.

Springboard programs?
- Candidates are assessed individually
and registered with the program that best meets their needs.
- What happens if a candidate is not
suitable?

of mediation and onsite monitoring. If a candidate is not suitable,
the relationship can be terminated as per the employment standards
act.

on the programs?

the programs as to your ability to hire. You may have as many
candidates as possible so long as this fits within the financial,
training and supervisory capacity of your business.
