Volunteer Placements
Community and Volunteer Placements
Operation Springboard's programs are always looking
for dedicated community based organizations to offer volunteer placement
opportunities for two key programs servicing two different clientele
groups within the organization;
CSO:
The Community Service Order Program is a sentencing
alternative whereby youth and adult offenders can make a positive
contribution to the community for their actions. CSO clients have
been ordered by the courts to complete a required amount of community
service as a condition of their probation. The CSO program strives
to benefit the community and the offender by providing invaluable
volunteer work experience of community service, skills and abilities
to non-profit organizations. In 2004-2005, CSO clients contributed
over 44,906 hours of service in a variety of settings including;
food banks, community centres, services for the elderly, park cleanup,
cooperative housing, children's services, religious organizations
and many more.
If you are a non-profit or charitable organization
interested in offering your assistance through opportunities for
volunteer placement, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Registered
Non-profit and/or Charitable Organization
- Willing to Maintain guidelines on confidentiality
- Willing to Offer appropriate support for placement success

SOAR:
Seeking Opportunities and Accessing Resources (S.O.A.R.)
is a voluntary life and vocational skill building program, servicing
developmentally disabled young adults between the ages of 18 - 28.
This program is multi-levelled and designed to meet the individual
needs and skill levels of each participant. Skill building focuses
on a wide range of areas including employment training, computer
use, literacy, money management, health and hygiene, nutrition,
socialization and recreation.
In addition, S.O.A.R. participants are very actively
involved in the community either by volunteering and or maintaining
gainful employment. The SOAR Program provides community partners
on-site Job Coaching support and access to employer subsidies. Over
the past year (2004), participants have gained valuable experience
through their 3,500 hours of community service. Through their hard
work, SOAR participants increase their independence as they take
pride in being given the opportunity to be contributing members
of our community.
