CoolFactor: Innovation in Youth Crime Prevention

The Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services recognized the potential of innovative e-learning solutions and funded the development of CoolFactor. CoolFactor is a pioneering e-learning anger management program that helps youth develop needed skills to make the successful reintegration from custody to the community.

CoolFactor is a highly interactive multimedia e-learning program that employs contemporary, youth-friendly graphics and images, as well as music and sounds, to capture and hold attention. Responsive to the unique learning styles of youth, the program is rooted in best practices and enriches rather than replaces existing one-on-one counselling.

• The Resource Room Aris Kaplanis Centre for Youth (Scarborough)
• Springboard's Central Toronto Learning Technologies Office (Toronto)
• The Niagara Citizens Advisory Council Skills Training Centre (St. Catharines).

Springboard has engaged HP Canada, Bell Canada and the Rotary Club of Toronto in supporting CoolFactor's development. This collaboration, with the support of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, forms a unique partnership to will advance innovation in e-learning that helps make our communities safer and better.
