about us
Justice Services

  • The Attendance Program

  • This program provides community-based alternatives to custody or detention for youth with judicially imposed requirements. The program helps young people between the ages of 12-17 acquire new skills and move forward. It is located at Midland and Lawrence in Scarborough.

  • YCAPP

  • The Youth Court Action Planning Program provides community-based options for young persons facing criminal court. The program helps yarrange plans that meet young people's needs when they are in the early stages of the court process. It operates at three courts: 311 Jarvis, Metro Northwest, and Newmarket.

Diversion Programs and Community Justice Worker Programs

These programs provide community justice options as alternatives to formal criminal court proceedings. They are normally available to adult first-time offenders of non-violent offences. Programs are available at Metro East and Old City Hall Courts.

  • Community Service Order Program

  • CSO helps offenders make a positive contribution to the community, in many cases gaining a valuable experience in the process. Our clients, both adults and young persons, have been ordered by the court to complete a required amount of community service as a condition of their probation.

  • Youth Justice Committees

  • Youth Justice Committees are a community justice alternative to formal criminal court for young people. They involve trained community members meeting with victims, young people accused of minor, non-violent offenses, and their caregivers to negotiate appropriate ways for the young person to make amends.

We are involved with Youth Justice Committees in
    two locations:

    · Scarborough
    · York Region

  • Youth Residences

  • Springboard operates four residential homes for youth. Each location supports young men between ages 12-17 who are in detention (awaiting trial) or serving an open custody sentence. During their stay, residents are required to resume their education, engage in job training, or seek full-time employment.

  • Community Work Program

  • This program arranges for offenders serving weekend sentences in various locations in Ontario to work on local improvement projects. It is designed to improve community safety and allow offenders opportunities to rehabilitate themselves through contributing to the community.

  • Learning Technologies

  • Springboard's innovative e-learning programs address an array of factors that impact criminal behaviour. Springboard is piloting and delivering three e-learning programs: Mino-Madwin, CoolFactor and SURE.

  • YouthConnect

  • This pilot program helps young persons involved in the criminal justice system by providing skill building, mentorship, and support to improve their functioning in school or work. Its goal is to mobilize the community to create structured opportunities for at-risk youth to participate in positive activities.
